At ROAR B2B, sustainability isn’t a side project - it’s a responsibility. As organisers of the UK’s largest environmental services event and publishers of letsrecycle.com, we recognise the role we play in leading by example across the events industry.
We’re committed to running events that minimise environmental impact and maximise positive outcomes. Through clear goals, open communication, and an ethos of continuous improvement, we’re building a more sustainable future - together.

We’re on a mission to create events that make a positive impact on people, planet, and industry.
As organisers of the UK’s largest environmental services event and publishers of letsrecycle.com, we’re proud to be in a position to lead by example. That means making smarter choices, holding ourselves accountable, and embedding sustainability into every part of our business.
We promise to:
-
Deliver live events that prioritise people and planet
-
Measure, reduce, and balance our emissions through transparent reporting
-
Work only with suppliers and partners who share our environmental values
-
Support causes that restore, protect, and empower—like 9Trees and Groundwork UK
-
Keep learning, improving, and challenging ourselves to do better

“Sustainability is about action, not perfection.”
We know we’re on a journey - and that progress takes time, commitment and collaboration. But every choice we make is a step in the right direction. Our entire team is involved in this effort, and we’re proud to be driving change, together.
Monitoring & Reducing Our Carbon Footprint
Reducing our environmental impact starts with understanding it. At ROAR B2B, we conduct annual carbon assessments across our business and events to identify where we can make the most meaningful changes.
Working with sustainability consultants, we measure our scope 1 and 2 emissions - covering everything from office energy use to travel—and are increasingly focused on scope 3 emissions, which include event logistics, materials, and attendee travel.
We use this data to:
-
Set reduction targets and track year-on-year progress
-
Identify high-impact areas and prioritise improvements
-
Inform our suppliers, partners, and teams about where they can make a difference
-
Offset emissions where appropriate through verified carbon balancing schemes
In 2023 - 2024, we reduced our total emissions by over 559 tCO2e, and we’re committed to further progress as we move toward our goal of balancing all scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2028.
Leading the Way at ESS Expo
As the UK’s largest event dedicated to environmental services, the ESS Expo is a flagship of our sustainability-first approach.
We’ve already introduced initiatives such as:
-
100% recyclable, latex-free carpet
-
Removal of printed event guides
-
Sustainable giveaways and green ticketing
-
Partnerships with green hotels and local suppliers
-
Waste and energy monitoring and reporting
-
Digital-first communications to cut print waste
ESS is more than an event - it’s a hub of innovation, a platform for sustainable solutions, and a catalyst for change.

Our Road to Net Zero
We’ve signed the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge and created a detailed roadmap to guide our journey. Our goals include:
🎯 Balancing scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2028
🔍 Tracking and reducing scope 3 emissions
🌍 Partnering with sustainable venues and logistics providers
📉 Promoting reuse, recycling, and carbon-conscious build practices
From stand design to delegate travel, we’re making improvements across every stage of the event lifecycle.
Charity & Nature Partnerships
Sustainability also means giving back. That’s why we proudly support:
🌿 Groundwork UK – Helping communities build greener, stronger neighbourhoods through hands-on environmental projects.
🌳 9Trees – Restoring UK woodlands and capturing carbon through long-term, native tree planting schemes.
These partnerships extend our impact beyond the show floor, helping us contribute to a healthier planet and a more sustainable future.
