The ROAR Academy is where new talent gets a proper start - fast-paced work, real support, and a team that actually wants you to succeed.
But don't just take our word for it. Hear from Lucas - the scheme's second graduate...
Q: How did you feel on your first day at ROAR?
I felt excited and eager stepping into a new environment, but also a strong sense of curiosity about what to expect. From the off everyone was so friendly and welcoming, which settled me straight away.
I quickly realised on my first day that ROAR had a supportive and energetic culture where people genuinely want you to succeed which made me enthusiastic to get going.
Q: What was the most valuable thing you learned during your first 3 months at ROAR
The most valuable thing I learned was making sure to get stuck in as much as you can, whether that is sitting with different people in the office, going out with different people for lunch or socialising after work.
I discovered that asking questions and getting to know as many people as you can early helps build better outcomes and stronger relationships which has put me in a better position 3 months down the line.
Q: Who at ROAR has inspired or mentored you during your journey?
I’ve been fortunate to learn from so many amazing people at ROAR already.
If I had to pick one person I’d say Issy helped the most in terms of mentoring my first few months and helping me feel a part of the team straight away. Her creativity, work ethic, and willingness to support her colleagues showed me how to be a team player.
Q: What are you most excited about in your next chapter at ROAR?
I’m eager to take on new challenges that push me outside of my comfort zone and help me continue growing both personally and professionally.
I’m especially excited to contribute to impactful projects like ESS and to connect with new people across the industry. There’s a strong sense of momentum and purpose here, and I’m proud to be part of it.
Q: What advice would you give to the next group of ROAR Academy participants?
My advice would be to just embrace every opportunity to learn and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Take time to connect with people across all teams, I can’t stress enough how friendly everyone is. Most importantly enjoy the experience, ROAR is an environment that rewards enthusiasm and effort, so make the most of it.
